PhD Confirmation

I successfully completed my confirmation document (>80 pages) and the accompanying seminar. This means I can continue my studies looking into engagement with wildlife and how it affects conservation. It is critically important for us to notice and appreciate the wildlife around us. Utilising citizen science and social media allow us to understand a vast array of patterns to wildlife encounters. I personally love using iNaturalist to help identify and record what I find. I have just finished uploading observations from my recent trip to the Wet Tropics of Queensland. Since joining in December 2019 I have been able to identify >900 species in >3,100 observations of a huge range of animals, plants and fungi.
